Introduction

The Tarlen app is a car-sharing application operating in the Western Cape of South Africa. With Tarlen, you can rent cars from trusted car owners or earn by renting out your own cars to eager renters in your city.

Building outbound system

Building an outbound system is a tactical decision, and selecting tech stacks according to your requirements is the key to long-term smooth operations. We primarily use Instantly, Smartlead, and Apollo, but for this client, Instantly was the best choice. We used Google Workspace reseller accounts and followed all the best practices like custom tracking domains, optimum settings. Additionally, we utilized recovery Gmail to receive 2FA codes and bypass 2FA authentication, thereby eliminating the need for a recovery phone number.

Problems We Faced

Scraping the data was a bit tricky. Regular scrapers were not able to retrieve the phone numbers from these websites due to complexity and hidden data. To tackle this issue, I helped them create a no-code bot to scrape phone numbers seamlessly, including hidden phone numbers of car sellers on the Gumroad website.

Outcome

The phone number data is very expensive, but we were able to obtain thousands of phone numbers within a week using my solution. These phone numbers will later be used by their internal sales team to market the app.

Summary

We gave our best to Tarlen app, who were creating a product from scratch to provide ease of access to car sharing and reduce carbon footprints on the roads of South Africa. All the marketing tech stacks and materials were transferred to them, which will later be used by their internal in-house team. However, our support for them did not end here. We added them to our Slack and provided prompt replies in case they were stuck or faced any issues in the marketing of their application.
